In practice, this means that the registrant management via Punktum dk will cease to exist as of 1 July 2028. From 1 July 2026, it will only be possible to register new .dk domain names with registrar management.
The shift from registrant management to registrar management will require changes in the requirements placed on registrars of .dk domain names.
Modification of dealer contract
On 1 April 2026, all registrars will receive an updated registrar contract that will come into force on 1 July 2026 and which phases in the new administration model where registrant management is deleted. After July 1, 2026, you will only be able to register .dk domain names via the registrar management model.
Future registration of .dk domains
From 1 July 2026, you can:
- Only register new .dk domain names with registrar management
- Only register and renew .dk domain names for one year at a time
This means that you as a registrar must be able to offer registrar management on newly registered domains from this date. The transitional periode for existing registrant managed .dk domain names runs until 30 June 2028. Punktum dk will then decide how any residual group of registrant managed .dk domain names must be handled.
In the period July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2028, registrants must choose a registrar to handle their .dk domain name.
Information for registrant-managed registrants
Such a change is complicated and must be planned - both with us and you. We would love to have you involved in the entire process, just as we want to inform registrants about what this change will mean for them. We will therefore inform all registrant managed registrants from Thursday 2 October 2025.

We will hold two registrar meetings, on Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 October, where you are invited.
A physical meeting in Danish
- 21 October 2025 from 9:30 – 13:00 followed by lunch
- At Punktum dk, Ørestads Boulevard 108, 11th floor, 2300 Copenhagen S
- We offer lunch in restaurant BARK (same address) after the meeting
An online meeting in English
- October 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Write to registrar@punktum.dk no later than 13 October 2025 and state which meeting you would like to attend. You will then receive a calendar invitation.

For Punktum dk, this is a big leap that has been underway for a long time and follows the development that was started back in 2017, when we opened up the possibility for registrars to enter into agreements on behalf of us as domain administrators and continued with the introduction of registrar management in 2021.
We know that this step has been desired by many of you. And now Punktum dk has taken it.
We will come back to how we will change this together in October, where we can discuss the plan together and reach an agreement so that from 2026, we can work on the operational.
