For those who have a .dk domain name today, this means that THEY must decide by June 30th, 2028, who will be their registrar.
Why are we doing this?
One contact, one invoice: Today, many customers receive two invoices – one from us and one from their registrar. It can be confusing. With the new model, you only have to deal with your registrar, who typically also hosts websites and offers other services.
Enhanced security and competition: Punktum dk's goal is for .dk domain names to remain among the most secure in the world. We will continue our close collaboration with registrars to ensure that they meet high security standards such as DNSSEC. At the same time, we hope that the new model will attract more international registrars and thus strengthen competition, which can ultimately keep prices down.
What does this mean for registrants?
- One primary contact: The registrant takes over the commercial affairs and contact regarding .dk domain names.
- Security is still our responsibility: Punktum dk will continue to be responsible for the basic IT infrastructure and ensure that .dk domain names are as secure as possible.
This change is a natural development that we have been working towards since 2021, when we introduced registrar management. More than one in three customers have already chosen this model, and we are now making it the standard to make it easier for everyone.
We have gathered information about the new model for those who want to know a little more about what it means for both registrars and registrants of a .dk domain.
