New report: Low abuse in Danish domains
Punktum dk has just published the latest report on safety and abuse. The conclusion is unambiguous: the .dk domain is one of the safest places to move digitally. The preventive efforts mean that the actual abuse on the Danish part of the internet is minimal compared to the general threat picture.
The analysis behind the numbers: A digital zone in balance
The report emphasizes that the targeted efforts against cybercrime are bearing fruit.
The numbers speak for themselves:
- Less than 0.2% of blocked sites are .dk domains: Of the more than 3,500 domain names that appeared on the Telecom Industry's block lists, only 7 of them were .dk domains.
- High security compared to abroad: This low representation testifies to an extremely high security standard compared to other domain extensions (TLDs).
Proactive action against digital fraud
The high level of security is not least due to Punktum dk's proactive monitoring. Over the past year, Punktum dk has contacted domain owners (registrants) and web hosts almost 1,000 times in connection with potential scams.
The combination of mandatory data and ID checks and rapid response means that:
- Only 12 domains were suspended directly based on Punktum dk's terms.
- Only one domain was shut down after an outright police warrant.
Threats of the future: AI makes fraud harder to understand
Although the figures are positive, the report also points to new challenges. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is predicted to make future fraud attempts significantly more credible and difficult to understand for the average user.
To counteract this development, Punktum dk will introduce the "Trusted Flaggers" scheme in 2026 - a new scheme for trusted flaggers (also known as trusted flaggers). In all its simplicity, this means that we give the opportunity to relevant authorities to take faster action, which means that Punktum dk can intervene faster against misuse of .dk domains.
With this initiative, Punktum dk will use their unique insight into the Danish domain zone to identify and stop criminal actors even faster and before the damage occurs.
