Version 2.1, 14. January, 2026
1. About checking contact information and identity
1.1 Punktum dk is obliged to secure correct contact information of those who have registered a .dk domain name (hereinafter “domain name”). This is necessary for Punktum dk to comply with Section 18 of the Danish Domain Names Act and Section 11 of the Danish NIS2 Act, which stipulates that registrants’ information in Punktum dk’s database must be accurate, up to date and complete.
1.2 Check of identity and contact information can be carried out by either Punktum dk or the registrar if the registrar handles the right to the use of the domain name on behalf of the registrant. This procedure applies where the check is carried out by Punktum dk.
1.3 This procedure describes how Punktum dk checks the contact information, such as address, telephone number and email address, and the identity of registrants resident outside Denmark who have already registered a domain name.
1.4 Punktum dk checks that the information specified in section 1.3 are accurate. Checks are also performed to ensure compliance between the registered contact information and the registrant’s identity.
2. Data and ID checks
2.1 Punktum dk may base checks of the registrant’s contact information and identity on a risk-based assessment of the information supplied when the domain name was registered. This can happen even if the registrant has previously completed a check of his or her identity and contact information.
The assessment includes whether the contact information may be incorrect if the registrant does not respond to correspondence from Punktum dk. It may also include an assessment of whether the domain name might have certain affiliations to internet crime, since this may be an indication that the stated identity and contact information supplied are incorrect.
2.2 Based on the risk assessment, Punktum dk may ask a registrant to provide documentation of accuracy of address as it appears in Punktum dk’s systems and correct identity.
2.3 The registrant must provide picture ID and legitimate, authoritatively issued documentation for his or her address. Documentation must be in Danish or English. Punktum dk provides detailed instructions in the notification accompanying the request for documentation.
2.4 As part of its check, Punktum dk may request the registrant to provide proof of his or her e-mail address by confirming that the email address is accurate through active response. As part of this check, the registrant may be asked to verify his or her telephone number as well. Active response means that the registrant responds to an e-mail sent to the registered e-mail address in accordance with Punktum dk's instructions in the notification sent to the registrant. The active response of the email address can be part of established processes and happen, for example, when an email is sent to the registrant to verify the name and address, which the registrant responds to.
2.5 If the registrant does not complete the check within the time set by Punktum dk, Punktum dk may suspend the domain name(s) to which the registrant has the right to use.
2.6 A registrant whose domain name has been suspended because the check has not been carried out still has the opportunity to submit new documentation to Punktum dk during the suspension period of 30 days. The registrant can contact Punktum dk’s customer service for guidance on this. If applicable, the documentation must be submitted via the contact form at www.punktum.dk and must be submitted in enough time for Punktum dk to assess the new documentation before expiry of the suspension period and thus before deletion of the registrant's domain name(s). If the registrant has not completed the check within 30 days of the date of suspension of the domain name(s), Punktum dk will delete the domain name(s) in question.
This procedure is established pursuant to Section 14 (1) of the Danish Domain Names Act. Punktum dk is obliged to comply with good domain name practice when establishing the procedure, cf. Section 14 (3) of the Domain Names Act.
